David Moves is a book about character design for animation. Successful animation often came with great character design. I researched on character design of old animations when animators were still drawing animation by hand. I tried to design a character on my own and put all the drawings and research together to form a book. The book aimed to introduce animation character design including history and production process. In order to show the effect of analogue animation, The book also included a set of stop motion drawings that I made. Therefore, the book is also a flip-book. If you read from the cover, you can see the information of the character design; if you read from the back, you can see the animation. The character that I created was named David, and the book was named David Moves, which was named after the purpose of this project – to make the character moves.
